FLUID IDENTITY

Fluid Identity is an immersive installation by Sara Ricciardi Studio and Luca Turelli Studio, presented at Villa Marie, Lucca during the exhibition Design in a Real World, and inspired by the thought of Victor J. Papanek.

A fragmented face—painted on glass with pigments and gold leaf—floats within a pool of water, continuously breaking apart and reforming. The work reflects on the instability of identity in contemporary times: fluid, permeable, and in constant transformation.

Through a poetic and visual language, it explores the tension between self and society, between reflection and disintegration. In a world that drifts between horror and beauty, Fluid Identity becomes a metaphor for our ever-changing selves—a face in flux, a fleeting trace, a mirror of our time.
